Hello all experts,
I have two DVD recorders, Sony and another Samsung I think. I have several +R and -R dvd's which sometimes will play but other times either not recognised, or the message will read, not playable or something similar. The DVD's I am using are Maxell and Sony. Can any one tell me what is going wrong or am I doing something wrong.

Didyou make sure that the disks were "finalised" == dave0

Not sure if I did all of them, with some I did and am sure some of those fail to play, may be swapping the DVD player is a problem? what worries me is the fact that I am copying all cassette based family movies on DVD and getting rid of the cassettes. If these DVD's are so temperamental then I may loose all the records,Mrs will kill me

Not only check the write speeds, but the buffer size.
What's your computer spec?
Be sure not to do anything else whilst the disk is burning, could be having buffer under run problems.0 -
Hello Viper_7, I am not using a PC to burn any DVD, just simple home movies and some TV programs. Yes the DVD was not burnt in one go, burnt one program and then a couple of days later, another and so on. In the mean time I have changed the dvd as well.
Not sure if I am supposed to do that?, how do I check the buffer size etc?
many thanks on anticipation.
