Standing Charge/No Standing Charge

Elexon deal with the settlements side of the industry which means all data communiation & relationships between Suppliers, Distributors and Meter Operators, Data Collectors, Data Aggregators etc.
They are the ones that deal with everything technical in the industry and an equivalent level to Ofgem to the above people as they can push for fines and companies to have the registration licences removed/suspended etc (via higher authorities)
So, they are ones supposed to stop Suppliers making all these errors that end up as complaints from a customer. They are also supposed to tighten up what gets paid out in the industry.
They don't do a great job from my experience!!!:rotfl: It's better to live 1 year as a tiger than a lifetime as a worm...but then, whoever heard of a wormskin rug!!!:rotfl:0 -

Ethics, maybe?
They charge customers with pre-payment meters the same price as customers paying quarterly in arrears. The tariffs for pre-payment meters are often extortionate, and Ebico's prices helps these customers (often among the elderly & less well-off) afford their gas and electricity.
They also have no standing charge, or hidden standing charge (initial/subsequent unit scam) which again, targets the people who can either ill-afford it, or those who try to be conservative with their energy use.
They also offer one of the very few truly "green" schemes, unlike most of the token gestures provided by other suppliers.
You can 'offset' the emissions from your energy use. Unlike most offset schemes, Ebico does not just plant some trees, or hand out low-energy lightbulbs (and then spend a fortune advertising these gimmiks, thereby instantly wiping out any green gains).
It purchases tonnes of carbon dioxide pollution permits from the European emissions trading scheme. If Ebico buy permits for a tonne of CO2, then the total supply of permits in the rest of the market is reduced. The total amount of carbon pollution created by firms that have to use permits must fall by the equivalent one tonne, if they are to avoid substantial fines. So if you pay Ebico to buy permits to cover your emissions, it will genuinely reduce carbon dioixide output somewhere else.
