The Real 20 things every Sun Holiday Booker needs to know

The Real 20 things every Sun Holiday booker needs to know

1. Priority forms – not sent out to everyone as too many on database. More likely to get one if you booked same period last year.
2. Pets – Not allowed. BUT if you get a booking you can ask park if available accommodation. However no refund policy if you cannot take a pet.
3. Web bookings. Server normally open from evening previous to date listed. Downside is you need the final codeword which is not published until listed date. Try guessing – usually something like PARK, POOL, SAND, LAKE, etc
4. Web bookings. Take great care. Ensure party size is correct. Once selected from the dropdown box, click mouse pointer on another part of screen or scrolling the mouse will change original number.
5. Web bookings. You must enter 3(?) dates and parks. If you do not get the date/park you want, log out of booking and delete cookies on your PC (tools, options etc). Do this every time or the same date/park will autoselect. As the bank/school holiday dates go first you could try using 2 of those dates and the one date you actually want.
6. Foreign destinations. Only a few places are available at those sites and dates are very limited.
7. Party size. 5 is an unlucky number. Very few sites have availability i.e. One of the larger park operators only makes 4 berth apartments available for the promotion.
8. Do not put dates on your form that you cannot go. Better to put only 1 date
9. Keep a copy of the form you send in.
10. Check the dates you put on the form are correct and tie in with your actual school holidays. No changes or refunds if incorrect.
11. When your form is inputted the system looks at the first date and checks availability for party size against each of the parks you have listed. Then it looks at the second date and checks availability against the parks you have listed – and so on. Don’t expect first-date-first-park, second-date-second-park etc.
12. Note the date and phone number that is published under the 20 things etc in the paper. The phone line may be open a couple of days prior to the listed date and will be much easier to get through to.
13. If successful with your paper application, your cheque will be cashed and details passed to the relevant park to issue you with confirmation. Should you not receive confirmation after 3-4 weeks from this point see note 12.
14. If successful with your web application you will have a copy of the date etc. (suggest taking a screen print at each stage) You therefore know which park you are booked at. Should you not receive confirmation from the park after 3-4 weeks and the sun helpline is not yet open, find the relevant central phone number (not the individual park) and you can call to find out why you have not received confirmation. Quote the sun booking reference number (if Haven Holidays use the sun booking reference but state that it is the“ ALTERNATE BOOKING REFERENCE”).
15. Group bookings. 2 or more parties want same park and same dates. Only use the application form method. You can use priority application forms and/or paper form. Put same date(s) and park(s) on all forms. Send separate cheques for each form as this gives more flexibility when you don’t get the group booking. Staple all forms and cheques together and attach brief note stating “Group booking required – Lead name is……………”. If unsuccessful the rebooking notification letter is only sent out to the lead name.
16. Do not try to squeeze more names onto the form than there are spaces for. If it is six spaces it means maximum berth size for the promotion is six places and either it will reject your application or try to book 2 units meaning double the cost.
17. The promotion has very little control over what type of accommodation you are allocated by the park. If you want ground floor accommodation or any other special requests attach a brief note stating what is required. However this has to be passed individually to the park(s) to see if they can accommodate the request – which takes time and severely restricts your choices. But if you don’t ask then you won’t get a refund if it all goes wrong.
18. Just because you have a priority form doesn’t mean you will get your choices. School holiday periods/bank holidays and the 100,000 other people with priority forms all take their toll. Applications are dealt with in the order received and the priority form can be sent in a day earlier but there may be many thousands in front of you who all want the same date/park.
19. The insurance option is only valid for the actual holiday dates. If you extend your holiday through the park the extra days are not covered. Also note there is no cancellation cover.
20. Remember, the promotion is a “lead-in”. Cheap offer but once you add in all the options, upgrade etc is it going to cost more than what the park can offer. If you don’t need bed linen or entertainment passes and don’t mind bottom of the range units it’s probably a good deal.

    Hi

Do you work for them? Also I have a letter that was sent when I did not get a requested booking saying that I can send it when the next promotion is on, as soon as the booking form is issued. Does this mean that I can send it without the required number of tokens?

    Thanks

Yes it does - just attach to the form send in . The sooner you send in your choices the more chance you have of getting what you want.
