Inter railing insurance

Hi guys.

I'm off inter railing at the start of August for a month and I'm starting to look at insurance prices. For those who don't know what inter railing is, in brief; it's travelling around Europe on the rail network on one pass.

Now I'm also off to
Tenerife for 10 days mid July so I figured annual insurance is the better and cheaper option. After reading the article on MSE about travel insurance I got two different quotations from Travelplan Direct the first being comprehensive and the second backpacker. Now instantly you would think backpacker is the better option because that's effectively what I'm doing, however the comprehensive cover appears to cover everything I need, and it's almost half the price of the backpacker option.

Now the price isn't too much of an issue with the backpacker option costing around £65 however if the comprehensive cover does actually cover my needs is there any point in playing for the backpacker option.

I'm by no means an insurance expert that's exactly why I want your opinions on what to go for.

Any help will be much appreciated.

Thanks :money:

GENERALLY backpacker insurance is intended for people who are doing extended continuous trips (ie several months) without returning home (at which point the insurance normally ceases whether you've been away 1 day or 1 year).

In your case you are only spending a month abroad in which case you SHOULD be covered by the cheaper insurance - BUT check the maximum length of a single trip and how many days in total you can stay outside the UK in the next year to be sure
