LTSB - how to pay off my credit card without statement

Here's the situation.

I am a university student and about a week or so before moving out, I informed Lloyds of the change of address over the phone, and asked them to change it on a specific date. They said it would be fine, and even sent a letter to my old address confirming that the change would be done (but with no specific details about the new address, accounts etc for security reasons, apparently). I assumed that that was that, and the address would be changed on the date which I had asked.

Fast forward to the date on which I am supposed to be receiving my card statement. I wait a few days and look on the internet banking to see if has been generated (as the online statement details tend to disappear when they generate it). Then, I looked on my current account statement and check the address, and guess what, to my horror, the address hasn't been changed!

So, I rang them up and it turns out that they were holding the wrong address for me, and they confirmed that they had sent the statement out to the old address, so obviously something isn't working or someone isn't doing their job! After much discussion, they said that they'd send out a copy statement to the new address free of charge (the g*ts tried to charge me to send the statement out!). The next day, I went into the branch and complained, they checked the address on the system and changed it to my new one.

So, I waited about 4 days and still, no credit card statement turned up. I rang them up and went through the whole crap of having to explain the story again. They apologised and told me to just wait for it!!! I got them to check the system and said no copy statement had been sent out! Again, I got them to send out a new statement to me again, as I said I hadn't received it. That was Tuesday, it is now Sunday and there's still no sign of the blasted thing. Apparently, they are sent out "first class" - what ... first class via Australia?!

Now, it is getting close to the date which my balance should be paid off (8th July). I pay my balance off in full every month, although I prefer to pay it manually by going into the branch - it is some form of 'reassurance' for me that it has all been paid off completely and that they have received my payment.
They tried to get me to pay it over the phone - but no way am I doing that, after the f!!k up they've done about my address!

I am proposing to go into the branch and pay it off in full, but I don't have the slip thing at the bottom of the bill to give to the cashier, so how do I get them to credit the funds to my credit card account as a payment?
And who on earth is eating my credit card statements?!?!? Grr! I have a feeling they're still sending them to my OLD address!!!!

  • You should be fine. I cannot talk for Lloyds but NatWest have blank slips that can be used when paying the CC in branch without the statement. Alternatively, you can pay online from your current account.
I have not worked for NatWest Bank since February 2009

Why not pay it by online banking from your current account?
I don't think you can wait anymore.

Don't forget despite the address problems (yes that should have been sorted out so you have a right to be annoyed), you still need to pay monthly in accordance with your terms and conditions. Having no statement or online access doesn't usually wash with customer services staff. If in doubt call up customer services to check due dates, minimum payments etc. They would be happy to clarify that.

And you can take two forms of ID to the branch and they can also take a payment or confirm the same information that customer services could above. Statements aren't always necessary.
