I managed to get a Pentax K100D with lens for £250 - I had an old pentax and could use the old lenses on it too!
I think they stopped the Pentax K100D BUT they have another camera that has the exact specs and price (K110D)... very odd!

6mp DSLR for £250 was a bargain for me and I like Pentax personally.
which ever one you think you like the look off try going into a shop and try them out... see how they feel.. then look online to buy (if cheaper).

Thanks again guys, bought the nikon d40 and the pictures are outstanding (comparing to my previous pictures) and the control it offers you is great.

Sorry I'm not very good with the terminology. The Nikon D40 says it does not have auto focus, does it have a dot in the middle of the screen it focuses on when you point it at something or is it entirely manual? Many thanks!

I have the Samsung GX10 version of Pentax K10D and its excellent.
I would have done for a Sony but I had a couple of Pentax lenses which I could use with the GX10.

Nikon D40 does seem a steal with the cash back.
Canon has extended cash backs if you search.

The Nikon D40 has auto-focus. The auto-focus motor is in the lens though (or rather, it has no auto-focus motor in the body), so it will only have auto-focus with newer lenses. It's not really a problem unless you have loads of old lenses you'd like to use.
