Baggage allowance... XL/Air Malta..

I'm going on holiday in two weeks time to Zante. I'm flying wih air Malta but it has been booked throught XL airways.. Does anyone one know what the hold baggage allowance is with these flights.. I have been on the XL website and they say the hold luggage is a max of 15kg per person but the air Malta website says 20kg per person..
I recieved the tickets a few days ago and they have 20kg free allowance but I do not know if this is the hold allowance or a 15kg hold plus 5kg hand allowance...

Anyone help on this one?:)

I have just booked my holiday to Zante for Sept with Kosmar and Air Malta. They told me the allowance is 20kg and we had no need to pay extra baggage allowance. If it says 20kg on your ticket you will be ok. Just as a matter of interest I have been told by friends just recently back that Zante airport is very keen on excess baggage and are charging extortionate prices so I have bought one of thoses hand held scales just to be on the safe side to use on our return.

Your allowance is what is stated on your tickets, in your case 20kg. This is your hold allowance and you have your hand luggage allowance on top. The allowance is stated on the tickets and apply according to who your carrier is, in your case it is with Air Malta.

  • We booked flights with XL in September 07 for travel in July 08. The baggage allowance was given as 20kg. When the tickets arrived they stated an allowance of 15kg and an accompanying letter explained that the allowance was now 15kg and we could pre-pay £7.50 each way for an extra 5kg! We contacted XL and asked for a refund of £15 each as they had reduced our allowance by this amount. They upped our allowance to 20kg and issued new tickets!
If you booked and paid for tickets before the announcement of the new allowance and are only given 15kg, contact XL!

I'm not quite sure where this question should go, but have had no joy getting hold of Air Malta, so I thought I would ask a large audience!
I've booked with Air Malta and am travelling on Sat. I am going to visit friends who have asked me to take out a large parasol (for an outdoor table) and base, as apparently it is a lot cheaper than out there.
As long as my baggage stays within 20kg does it matter how many bags there are, or how strange shaped the parcel is?
Any advice much appreciated, I have been trying customer services to be told there is no-one there to take my call, and the phone goes dead, and I have tried emailing, but they didn't respond.
