Debt Free Dreams

Options
Hi all.

Over the last few months i have been dreaming about the travelling i want to do when my kids are older. That is quite a long way off but my aim is to save towards my travelling so that when the time is right, i can just go!

Being in debt again is making my dreams seem further away and harder to achieve. I want to be debt free so i can realise those dreams and have the money set aside to pay for them....

What dreams do you have for when you are debt free? Do you think about it a lot? Is it your main focus for becoming debt free? What do you do to remind yourself of those dreams everyday, pics on fridge etc?.........

    Nice post.

I dream about not having to work a million hours every week, my basic plus extra hrs where available.

I dream about going on some lovely holidays - what I pay out in debt repayments, means I could go somewhere nice every 3 month if I wasn't paying these back... what a nice thought!

I'd like to move from my flat into a little house with a garden some day, but that won't happen for a long time yet... but I can dream!

I dont need any pictures to remind or inspire me, they are constantly in my mind... am interested to hear about other people's hopes and dreams though

Ever wonder about those people who spend £2 apiece on those little bottles of Evian water? Try spelling Evian backward.

This might be a little sad as a debt free dream but......I will be glad when I can save rather than make my repayments. So when it comes to getting my hair done, going on holiday etc, the money is waiting in a little savings pot for me.

Oh and when I can just treat myself on the spur of the moment and not think can I really afford it etc? Can't wait for those days to come!

I don't need pictures as well, I am obsessed with becoming debt free!

Sophie - I totally agree. I dream of being able to save for the things we want rather than sign a credit agreement.

I want to be able to logon to my bank account and see a savings account with a balance which grows each and every month....that would be my heaven.
  • I have a picture in my Avator - I want one day to live in a cottage like that. but that thing you said Crawley - girl, the money you spend on debts adding up to a holiday every three months? that really struck a cord with me.

I just want not to feel guilty. that bugs me.
    Nevertheless she persisted.

I dream of not having to put up with my creditors calling me every day and brow beating me as if it will put any more money in my bank account! It would be so nice to be able to afford to go out for a meal occasionally or to the pub to catch up with my mates, I haven't been out for a social evening for nearly two years because I can't afford it.

I dream of loads of things for when we are debt free - you'd think I was going to be an overnight millionaire or something!

I want to change jobs and/or reduce hours - our standard debt repayments before overpayments are £1000.00 per month - which equates to a good chunk of my wages.

I would also love another horse - something I just dont have the time for at the moment. I always look at adverts for horses to keep reminding me.

Plus all the usual things - haircuts (I havent been inside a hairdressers since my 18th birthday, holidays (OH and I havent ever been on holiday in the seven years we have been together) etc etc.

I dream of simple things like.....

not having to check each and every price in the supermarket every time we go.

having our first family holiday before the kids are too old to want to come with us. Nothing extravagant, just a couple of weeks self catering somewhere in the UK would be lovely.

not praying each time we start the car, just in case it doesnt start (really old car)

    :p
Is it better to aim for the stars and hit a tree or aim for a tree and land in its branches

We have just paid off our dedts this month. Our dream is to go on a big family holiday next year and have our baby christened in New Zealand (where dh is from). I forgot to say: To go on this holiday we have to save £20 per week for 2 years (been saving since Nov. to pay for flights- and £150 pcm from 'extra' money to pay for spends. This is the only way we can go!) We also want to save a deposit for a house and see our savings go up and up NOT our debt! I also really dream of having an emergency fund which we can use for bill payments rather than my credit card!

I also dream of being able to use said credit card in a positive way to pay for shopping etc. and pay it off every month without being tempted to spend loads more on it! We did that this month and it's paid in full for the first time in .....FOREVER!

Also dh wants to learn to drive, buy a car etc. Just lead a normal solvent life and stay at home with my baby when he's born as much as possible!

  • I dream of being able to work part time and spend more time on things that interest me rather having to spend day after day in a job which no longer fulfills me because I cant survive in dropping my wages....

Going back to study is another dream.....

That and being able to go on holiday at least once every 2 years, all out 2 weeks wherever we want to go.....
