Internet explorer running slow, help please

Options
Yesterday IE suddenly started running very slow - it takes so long to access some web pages (e-bay is the worst) that I just give up. It was running fine till yesterday.

I have changed to Firefox and internet is running perfectly and a zillion times quicker.

So it seems as if it is a problem with IE.

I know lots of people prefer Firefox, but to be honest I'm used to IE and like the layout, although I think I'll give Firefox a go now.

But can anyone tell me how to fix the IE problem? I have cleared cookies and temporary folders, done a scan and tried re-booting the pc. The hard disc has 68% free. That is the end of my PC knowledge so please bear with me, you may have to spell out what to do, step by step.

Many thanks in advance

Daisy

  • Have you tried from within IE - Tools - Internet Options - Advanced Tab - Reset Internet Explorer Settings

Okay, that has done the trick, thanks....

Unfortunately I have now lost all my bookmarks!

Is there any way to recover them?

    Thanks

  • Did you export/import them when you installed Firefox?

Oops, no I didn't think to do that!

Never mind, there was a lot of rubbish there anyway. I can quickly bookmark the sites I use regularly, and I'll just have to search for the rest. Not to worry!

    Thanks
