Arianet 8001 MP3 Player - battery life?

If anyone has got it, what is the battery life like?

A friend got one and is complaining that the battery goes within hours, no-where near the claimed up to 17 hrs. Got them to try a decent Duracell Ultra battery and only use 128k songs with medium volume, normal EQ and the screen saver on. Still only lasted 6hrs 30min of continuous play.

Comments

  • Maybe they get the same people to test them as they do MPG in cars,( Flat track, no wind, very light driver with a very light right foot.)everything turned way down and songs at lowest possible settings.
I'd rather be an Optimist and be proved wrong than a Pessimist and be proved right.

Yeah did cross my mind and maybe it's tested with the volume right down and no earphones or something

Just wondered if it was normal or maybe a faulty unit. Noticed one customer comment on it saying battery life as described though. Have asked the retailer and manufacturer but no reply as yet.

Playback Time Over 17.5 Hours (With Sigmatel 3510)
Now it does state the mp3 player can have either a Sigmatel 3510 or 3502 controller, but doesn't say how you tell or how long the 3502 lasts. But the retailer clearly state a spec of up to 17hrs either way:

Battery Life up to 17 hours
Maybe it's a faulty unit..or maybe it's totally unrealistic and false advertising?

Ok, got a reply from the manufacturer. Basically there are 2 models of this mp3 player:

    USB 2.0 'Full speed' (12Mbps) ~ 7 hours battery
    USB 2.0 'High speed' (480Mbps) ~ 17hours battery

So clearly my friend has the full speed model with the lower battery life. So now got to find if they were sent the wrong model or if Aria made a mistake on their website and don't sell the 17hrs version at all.

Typically Aria's customer services have yet to reply to the email and even their website technical support request form sends to a non-working email address. Probably want people to waste more money on them by phoning their 0906 support line charged at 60p/min.
