batteries cannot be identified

we have two dell latitude laptops and both of them have just recently started saying 'batteries canot be identified' i just press enter and they start up and they are charging up the battery ok, is it something to be concerned about ie is it something on it's way out :confused:

    Have you removed them and reseated them?

    Unfortunately Dell only warranty their batteries for 1 year anyway.

    You could try a BIOS update, but I don't think that would solve the problem.

    thanks just checked and no it's nt one of those mentioned

    haven't taken them out, and as far as the warranty i'm not too concerned they are part of a school program supplying the pupils with laptops which take 3 yr to pay for and they are also under warranty for everything including battery:j but as it's coming up to summer hols it might be a little more hassle trying to get them to fix it

    I think you might come unstuck with the warranty on the battery. I thought we too had a 5 year warranty on our laptops, but when I logged a call with them, found the battery is excluded!

    well as far as the school informed us they said all was covered including battery so i would take it up with them not dell
