Hi - had a really strange call last night and wonder if anyone can tell me what to do. I've tried to get in touch with BT who tell me that they have no record of my number being registered with them (despite calling them from the number in question, having just received a bill from them and having found the number using my BT internet connection!).
Quite simply picked the phone up last night to a withheld number and have man in what sounded like a caribbean accent telling me his name, when I told him that I wasn't clear what he was saying, I got called every name under the sun (won't repeat them here!), told me everything was my fault, he was after me, watching me, etc.
Would I be overreacting to go to the Police after one call? Anyone else had anything like this?

Almost debt-free, but certainly even with the Banks!

Hopefully it was a wrong number
Not sure what the bt response was all about...0 -
I think it depends on other information about you/your job etc.
My mum before she retired was a social worker and mainly worked with children and familes.
One evening my sister was home alone (grown up sister) as mum/stepdad had gone on hols. She played the answerphone back and there was a drunk/stoned woman who was saying death threats & stuff on the message.
We did report it to the police and got a crime number etc but to be honest they werent interested and thought we were over-reacting. But from our point of view our mums job meant that it was "possible" that a client could be so upset with her that they would consider hurting her or her family. Unlikely but possible.
In the event nothing further happened after that telephone call - though we did have a very sleepless night taking it in turns to stay awake just in case!!!!!
If you are worried I would report it to the police, but to be honest I wouldnt worry to much. It was probably a wrong number.

At first I thought it was a recording because the guy was so incoherent and rambling on 'b*tch' this and 'you're dead' that regardless of what I said. Although after a while he did kinda start responding to me.
Perhaps the Halfiax have sent some yardies to sort me and my PPI court case out
