We have a normal phone on option 1 with bt. That is line rental at about eleven pounds a month and also ten fifty a month for option one.
We also have a hub phone with our bt broadband which we use most of the time to make calls.
We would like to get rid of the " normal phone" and just use the hub. It seems to have become a waste of money having it!
Is it possible to do this?
Thanks!

I'm afraid not. ADSL ( ie your broadband ) is a service which needs a phone line to operate over, so if you dont have the normal phone line, you cant have your ADSL and hence your Hub Phone0

Thanks for that. I suspected that was the case.
Bit of a rip off though as you have to choose an "option" with BT.....even the basic one is £10.50 a month0 -
You used to get line rental only for £10.50 a month, now you get weekend calls included, and if you opt for a rolling 12 month contract, evening calls included aswell. So you're getting a lot more for your money now.0

Do you believe you are paying £11 for line rental PLUS £10.50 for "Option 1" i.e. a total of £21.50? If so that is incorrect. The charge of £10.50 for "Option 1" one includes line rental. So the total cost is £10.50. This assumes you have paper-free billing for which you receive a discount of £1.25, otherwise the charge is £11.75.We have a normal phone on option 1 with bt. Incidentally the Calling Plan previously called "BT Together Option 1" (the one you are on) is now called "Unlimited Weekend Plan" to reflect that weekend calls to geographic numbers are now included in the basic charge.

Er, not it's not - it's £10.50 for the Unlimited Weekend Plan (line rental with free calls of up to 60 minutes each to UK 01/02/03 numbers at weekends) if you pay by DD and opt for paper-free billing (or £11.75 if you just pay by DD).We have a normal phone on option 1 with bt. It's not £11 and £10.50.Time has moved on (much quicker than it used to - or so it seems at my age) and my previous advice on residential telephony has been or is now gradually being overtaken by changes in the retail market. Hence, I have now deleted links to my previous 'pearls of wisdom'. I sincerely hope they helped save some of you money.0 -
