30 presents for a 30th birthday

Hi
I've started to gather some things for my best friend for her 30th and wanted to go with the 30 presents for a 30th birthday theme. Unfortunately, I'm not in the least bit arty or creative:o
Have asked her what she'd like as a 'main pressie', but not sure if she's going to make a decision in time (like her 21st or change her mind at the last minute like her 25th)
:A So far I've gathered:
1 -A dress
2- A lipstick (;) thanks to the freebie board)
3- A cd of songs that played continuously on our last holiday
4- A posh nailfile set
5- Thornton's cranberry & blueberry fudge
6- sparklers
7- Body butter
As you can see, I have a long way to go. It doesn't have to be especially cheap/expensive, but it does have to add to my tally.
A really good idea I had was for a collage of all our holidays & adventures together & I did that with the last photobox offer,
only I gave it to her this week as a present for getting a 2:1 in her degree:T
Help:eek: I have another 23 items to come up with:eek:
ps - if she doen't come up with anything 'big' what suggestions would you have?
She's not into jewellery apart from one pair of studs I bought her, hates manicures/pedicures etc, not into reading per se. Currently into cooking with differnt herbs etc and looking for a job (should not be too difficult). I was thinking of includsing a membership to some type of club where you do different things... chocolate tasting, circus... anyone had/given one of these?
Budget for little things about £60-80, for a big thing £100 - although I'm flexible...
:)thanks:):)

Ok so how about a miniature bottle of wine from Asda?
Candle? (to have with the wine in a nice bath ...)
Lush bath bomb (to use in the bath whilst she has a candle burning and a bottle of wine!)
Bow of chockies
A girly book?
A dvd?
Face mask?
Will have a think of a couple more for you but it is late and I am trying to sleep lolRaising kids is like being held hostage by midget terrorists0 -
Thanks! but.. she thinks baths are dirty & doesn't really read anything except Patircia Cornwell
I'm thinking of the dvds and after a squizz on Play - not sure if I should get her Button Moon, Mysterious Cities of Gold or Brazil"This is a forum - not a support group. We do not "owe" anyone unconditional acceptance of their opinions."0 -
She does go on about missing the fact she used to climb trees when she was a child...Does this sound interesting & would I have to go too?

Climb the trees and slide across high wires, crawl through tunnels, cross rope bridges, walk the planks and zip down to the ground!
Go Ape is an award-winning high wire forest adventure course of rope bridges, tarzan swings and zip slides... all set high up in the tree tops.
Providing a fun day out with friends, families or colleagues, you'll be fitted with a climbing harness and given instruction before trekking from tree to tree high above the forest floor. Split into a number of different sections, the experience takes approximately 2.5-3 hours to complete but may vary depending on how many people are up in the trees.

It was mine and my friends 'anniversary' last week (12 years of being friends) and she gave me a memory box. I love it.
Each day I take out one piece of paper and it has a sentence on it that brings back a memory about out time together and stuff thats happened over the years.
Very MSE as it only cost the price to type up and print onto paper, and the box to put it in.
Something that will last a long time.
If shes experimenting with cooking how about putting together a cook book or paying for a cookery course (dependent on your funds) from anything from breadmaking to baking?

How about afternoon tea for two at a posh hotel. My sister and I had a posh afternoon last week at Handbury Manor as my birthday treat .She used a Sainsburys Mag promotion so it was tea for 2 for £20 but even then the normal price is £19 each and it would count as 2 pressies LOL. The local rag Hertfordshire MERCURY is doing a dine out for a tenner promotion at various pubs /hotlesin the area might be worth checking out their website for full details.
BTW-it was fab. Felt like a real Lady0 -
We made a friend of ours a necklace, using 30 x £1 coins. it looked a bit like a mayors one by the end, but was good fun. Make it interesting and funky by adding different thing to it.

Went on this for my friends' 21st. I'm scared of heights but went because that's what she wanted to do. I wouldn't recommend sending your friend on her own - if there's loads of people there she'll be stood around a while (and it could take longer than the 3hrs which it did for us).
I don't know whether all the locations are the same but we went to one at Sherwood Pines (fantastic location) and you have a practical safety briefing where you learn how to attach yourself to the safety lines, and then go round the course on your own. It's split into several sections and you go higher and higher into the treetops with zip wires to get you down.
It's a major adrenalin rush - tiring but loads of fun and I'd go again. Do wear a few layers though if you go as it can be really cold being up so high (there were hailstones whilst we were up the trees!).
I think your friend would really enjoy it if she loved climbing trees when she was youngerGetting married: 21/06/12!Current weight loss: 2st!!!0 -
I have just done this myself for my sister, in fact it is her birthday today. A long line of items.
29 and 30 were flowers and chocolates delivered to her (after she had opened the rest)
Packet of party rings
Tena lady
Reading glasses
Facial hair removal strips
Green and black's chocolate
Silver bangle
Tiffany's necklace (she is my sister after all)
Compass (she asked for it)
Pen knife
Snowballs
Bouncy balls (childrens)
1001 things to do with vinegar book
Cocktail book
Hip flask
The list goes on....0 -
What about some fresh herbs if she's into cooking. You can buy mini grow in the bag herbs. I picked up some for gifts from Help the Aged charity shop - they sell a selection of new items alongside their donated items.
Also you could find out all the 'normal' products she uses - shampoo, toothpaste (!) deodrant and make up a mini hamper. This way she won't have to think about buying things she uses for a while.
What about a magazine subscription - great way to use Tesco vouchers, save money yourself and send a fantastic gift. Look at the other deals to see if there are any other ideas.
Does she like tea/coffee. I put together a luxury coffee style hamper for my husband as we had received a coffee machine and it was a great success.
Hope these ideas help.0
