Hi I'm new to this game and looking for a safe place to invest for highest return. Any suggestions?
Looked at Nationwide which closes 29 October, which looks hopeless.

None of the current GEBs or GEIBs offer anything to make them worthwhile. See thread at top of the forum for more reasons why you should avoid them.
However, in summary, they are a product for the unsophisticated newbie to investments, sucked in by figures and words (that appear attractive) and they unlikely to look into them deeply or compare them to alternative investments.
They are a money maker for banks and building societies and anyone getting advice from a bank usually matches the above profile. They are an easy product to sell which is exactly what a low experience salesforce needs.I am an Independent Financial Adviser (IFA). Many thanks. It was pretty much what I expected, having looked at a few on offer and done my calculations.
Have had a suggestion that I look at government bonds. What do you think?
