Hi brightonman123 - pressed F2 on Vista doesn't have this option (can't see it anyway) on security has options and settings for ADMIN PASSWORD, SYSTEM PASSWORD, INTERNAL HDD PW, PASSWORD CHANGE, PASSWORD BYPASS, WIRELESS SWITCH CANGE, WI-FI CATCHER CHANGE, CPU XD SUPPORT, COMPUTRACE (R)
I have tried changing system password but still will not let me in , also tried setting internal hdd pw no good, password change has denied or permitted tried both these settings no good, still takes me to username/password to open the computer
Also tried password by pass still can't get passed this first password. If I could get into windows that would be ok but can't.
Any advice greatly appreciated though thanks.........0 -

Have we actually managed to determine if this is:
a) the bios password
or
b) the windows password
which is the problem?0 -
it is the bios password0

you need to speak to Dell customer service , the password is part stored on the hard disk, part on the motherboard
if you can verify your personal details when you ring they will give you a reset overide codeEx forum ambassador
