Research Ideas - Finding Something Original?

Options
Afternoon!

Just looking for some inspiration and guidance really - I am submitting my application to do a Masters in Research Methods soon, and have to give an outline of my research proposal, and I don't know what to do!

My primary question/ concern is, how original does my topic need to be?

I studied Law at undergrad level, and I have a particular interest in disability and employment/ access to services etc. I have read that I need to find a subject that has not been 'done to death', but how do I find out if it has been covered lots before?!

As an aside, if anybody has any other ideas of an area of employment, consumer or disability law that may be more original, I would be very happy to hear it!

Sorry for the ramble, may revise later when the late lunch alcohol has worn off (back in student mode already)! ;)

Thanks in advance x
Gone ... or have I?
