Claiming credit card charges back when on a DMP?

Hello everyone I'd like some advice on claiming back credit card charges while on a debt management plan. Has anyone here any experience of it? Would I get money back and then have to settle the balance straight away as I still have a few years left on my DMP.
Also would I be able to cliam back credit card insurance?
One of my creditors continued to be charging the card with the insurance every month even though I was on a DMP I thought they weren't supposed to pay anything out once on a plan? I contacted them many times and it took 18 months for them to cancel it.
I also have had one idiot company send me a letter that they are upping my payments by another tenner, but as my payment is a direct debit from CCCS and not been agreed with them they didn't get another tenner and I got a default notice from them. I feel like ringing them up and telling them to shove it and I'm stopping all payments to them and they can whistle for it.
To be honest I have no faith in the DMP system as I have been on it for 3 years and were my toatl should be half of what it was initially half of the people I owe money to have their balances above what I started with.
I have no credit available to me can't get a mortgage, no life, no possessions other than a clapped out car.
Surely there has to be an easier way? All these people that go down the bankruptcy route seem to enjoy life after. I can't even establish relationships as I have no social life.
Sorry if it sounds like I feel sorry for myself as I know many of you have been there, but after 3 years I still can't see any light at the end of the tunnel, and it is continuing to crush my confidence and get me down.

I also reclaimed Halifax credit card charges - £650 and I'm on a DMP. They paid it towards the debt.
  • Simon. I can't quite understand why you are torturing yourself in this way. As you now understand, by trying to "do the right thing" and repay your debts, you are getting no respect or credit for doing so from your creditors.

Your credit rating is up the proverbial creek. I assume that you don't have a house (you say you can't get a mortgage - so this is my assumption). So far quicker to bite the bullet and go bankrupt. A fresh start. Your credit ratings shot anyhow. At least this way, your credit rating will be in the clear (allegedly) again in 6 years time. I do believe that DMP's and IVA's take 6 years from the last payment - so is in fact a greater punishment in some way.

So assuming your not barred from doing so (ie job reasons) and you can overcome what I can only assume is a false sense of pride - go for it.

Post on the Bankruptcy part of this website - i'm sure they will confirm my advice.
