A PC that is on and doing something uses about the same amount of electricity as leaving a light bulb on all the time. This assumes the screen is switched off!

Of course, the logical thing is to use the power management settings to force the PC into standby mode after a certain period of inactivity...I really must stop loafing and get back to work...0
