Taking up "part" of our laminte floor

Hello,

We plan to replace a laminate floor that was put down by previous owners in the kitchen. It smells (I think their cats must have had an accident on it) and I've finally found the spot (beneath where we've put the fridge and freezer). What's the easiest way of lifting a section off for now until we get rid of the lot and replace later in the year - I'm desperate to get rid of the smell.

It has plastic underlay underneath and fllor boards beneath that.

This smell has been driving me crazy!

Thanks,
Ww

  • If it it glued together(not so common nowadays) then it will have to be cut out.If it is "click" system, then you need to start at one end and unclick it 'til you reach the required spot.

    Thanks for that.
Luckily it's near the edge but I'm struggling to lift it from the corner (which is under a worktop).
Any ideas what I should use?
  • when I remove a damaged section I normally either hammer a large screwdriver into the first board(if theres a gap around the edge) and tap the hammer against the screwdriver to unlock the board,or cut it out with a stanley knife,it's fairly easy to get through, just gently score the surface, and keep repeating and apply a bit more pressure then you will get through if you persevere, you may need to change the blade after you have cut through the tough coating,be careful with that knife though;)
