USB Device Incorrectly Detected

Hi,
I've got a strange problem, and I've googled it and not found anything remotely useful.
I've got a Digital Camera which when connected acts as a Mass Storage Device, and I've also got a USB memory stick which again when connected acts as a Mass Storage Device. This isn't my machine so I'm not sure when the devices were installed or in which order, but I've tried using different USB ports and the same problem happens - the problem is that whenever I try and connect the USB memory stick it gets detected as a Digital Camera DISK device, and then the computer freezes.
By the way (almost forgot!) the PC is running Windows 98SE.
I've tried removing the device from Device Manager (the Digital Camera DISK device that is) but when I plug the USB memory stick back in it goes from Unknown Device to Digital Camera DISK device and freezes up again!! Unplugging it unfreezes the computer, but I usually have to restart to get it back to normal (it's an old machine, probably about 400mhz, so it deffinetely won't run XP).
Thanks for any answers you can find!!
