This is strange. For instance. Google's cache does not seem to hold a full version of the page - just a text-only version plus empty markers. Can anyone try Googling 'www.nationwide.co.uk' and then click on the 'cache' link to see if it is different where you are now? Assuming the Google cache is not being downloaded correctly (and then, only selectively with 'nationwide' pages) how is this possible?
Thanks
I can't connect to Nationwide with either FF or IE browsers - but all other sites are fine. Is it possible that any attempt to enter the correct URL (in the chosen browser) is just being maliciously scrambled?

I receive a full version of the page, images and all. Google does have an option for viewing cached sites in text only, can you confirm that you don't have the option to "view full cached page" in the google frame at the top?Super geek.0

The Nationwide site is just fine for me.
The Google cache of the front page is also OK for me.
The images in that cached version are still being loaded directly from the original site (as they should be). If you are unable to connect directly to the Nationwide site to load those graphics, that is why your version of the cached site will be displaying as text only.Free/impartial debt advice: National Debtline | StepChange Debt Charity | Find your local CAB

Thanks for that explanation of Google cache, fermi.
Yes, I do have the option to view 'full' cache and text version only.
Any ideas how this apparent 'throttling' may be caused?
Incidentally, I found a second site (by accident) that won't connect it's at
'http://pageloaderror.com/'
(significant?)

DNS fails for that url here, which is appropriate.
Have you tried loading the site using a web proxy as a test?

Thank you. I've tried several proxies and could eventually get access to the main site via one of these. So what might this tell us?.....under construction.... COVID is a [discontinued] scam0

I can't get onto the Nationwide website either, I get this message:
We can't find the web page you're looking for
Here are some suggestions:- Check the address for typing errors such as ww.example.com instead of https://www.example.com
- If you are unable to load any pages, check your computer's internet connection.
- If your computer or network is protected by a firewall or proxy, make sure that your browser is permitted to access the Web.
It's been like this since Friday, never had any problems before.
Milarky, which Proxy worked for you? I've tried loads and none are working for me.

Still works fine from here.
Odd..............
I'm starting to wonder if they have done something with their site security that is rejecting connections from certain ranges of IPs?Free/impartial debt advice: National Debtline | StepChange Debt Charity | Find your local CAB

Well I can now access the site from a proxy and pretty much look at any page - except for 'sign on' where it tells me I need to enable javascript which IS enabled0

This has now resolved itself. I posted elsewhere earlier that I kept getting a reminder from AOL to use their CD to change network settings. I obtained three identical CDs but they did not auto run as they should have. I have now successfullly run the CDs and got the OK.
Immeditately before doing this Nationwide.co.uk was unrecognisable. Immediately after it connected instantly. So it appears as if AOL were selecting 'turning off' some denstinations to their users as part of this 'migration' process.

Just to add that with this new version of AOL I now seem to be able connect without clicking on/opening up the AOL client at all! Instead you just click on your normal brower and connection takes place as part of this opening up. So (maybe) AOL will be dropping a built in browser as part of their brand re-organisation?.....under construction.... COVID is a [discontinued] scam0
