Tiling Around a Shower Valve

I have just had my Trevi Shower Valve replaced in a partition wall. This involved the removal of two 30cm square tiles and various plaster behind them.
I have two new tiles, and one will easily go into position. The one around the valve is much more difficult. The pipework that serves it will make fitting a small piece of board very difficult. One builder suggested bonding, but the plumber saild this would be a bad idea with water pipes, and future access would be difficult. Would a quick drying spray foam be the answer ? It needs to be packed out in some way, as at the moment there is nothing to fix the new tile to.
All suggestions gratefully received.

Im with the builder, go with bonding.
The plumber has not much faith in his work??
If there was a future problem, 'smashing' thru a small amount of bonding not going to give to much problem , is it
