Maintaining car battery- advice wanted!

I'd agree, except the only problem being if there's a heavy draw on the battery, that drains it, even the 4.8W one won't solve the problem.

I think you need to find out what the current draw of the battery is, with everything off, and tackle that problem first.

or maybe it is a cheap battery and its knackered as it is 15 months old and fitted to a fairly large engine.

The battery was replaced by the main dealer so I doubt it would have been a cheap one

I will tell him to get the 2.4W one and he can try it the next time he is away!
