Am not able to download symantec updates or Iplayer etc on to my laptop what could be the issue?

    Do you receive any error messages, or do the downloads just not start? Do you have any firewall programs installed (ZoneAlarm, for example?).

    Have no firewalls the progs just dont start

    Have you got problems accessing other sites?
    Have you tried rebooting your computer?

    Try booting in safe mode and running an antivirus and anti spyware scan.
    That gum you like is coming back in style.
