Hopefully sbdy will be able to help. If I buy a little TV here and take it to France, do you know if it will be compatible or if the secam/pal system will clash. Thanks in advance.

Not only wll you need a 'dual-standard' TV to sort out PAL/SECAM issues, the best you are likely to get is either sound OR picture. The freqency separation of audio and video channels differs between UK and mainland Europe. Probably best to buy a new set in France!0

If you are hooking it up to a satellite dish, uk set top box and pointing towards a correct format satellite (Astra 2, Astra 1 or Hotbirds for example) you will be ok though.

there are multi-standard TVs available, but probably cost more, and I can't remember the last place I saw them. It isn't only SECAM, and the issues esalan mentioned, but a different number of lines in France
buy a French standards one over there - TVs are pretty cheap nowadays.0
