Oh and yes, anyone in debt should be eating gruel and wearing bread bags on their feet until solvent, damn you all and your extravagant lifestyles - I bet you use hot water too!

LOL Yes I do.....AND electricity and petrol in my car and not chip fat!!!

Thanks for your comments about Howard Cohen, I can actually pay off both the arrears just not until when I'm away next week it just concerned me as I'd had these Tranfer of Proceedings. What i'm going to do is e-mail them both explaining why I've missed payments and that I will be paying next Fri and ring them from my HOLIDAY hopefully that will be OK. There is a valid reason for not paying I had an attachment of earnings for my Council Tax issued just after I had the CCJ's issued. I've been working 60 hour weeks to enable me to pay the council off in just two payments so I actually think I deserve a holiday especially as i will probably return to working 60 hour weeks when I get back.

Here's another suggestion: whoever pays for the holiday, that's still 3 weeks you could be out earning extra money to clear your debts - and maybe you could even have said to your kind benefactor, "thanks for the offer of a holiday, but what would really help would be an equivalent donation in lieu as I am up to my eyes in debt" and it keeps me awake at night worrying about it all.

Oh yeah...."no thanks can I have the cash instead....what a cheek that would be!

Get it into perspective L-Jay - I have every sympathy for those who are facing genuine hardship especially as cost of living soars, & many people have lack of job security, but in so many cases application of common sense and attempting to live within your means may have kept problems to an absolute minimum, and the OP herself recognises the difficulties with her own debt:

I'm 100% responsible for my own debt, like many have said no-one forced my but I wanted a new this, a new that and it was easy. Now I work long hours in order to pay for my own stupidity when i could be at home with my family. I have no-one to blame but myself. Even now whilst paying of 3 CCJ's I'm I very often still tempted to apply for loans and credit cards but i know if I have them I spend it all and be in a worse situation...

Remember that the other side to this kind of scenario could be another family somewhere whose own life is set to be brought to a standstill as their small business goes to the wall because of customers who haven't paid invoices, and then the resultant unenforceable CCJs ......

Wow tbs you've been a busy bee, looking at my other posts!! I've been at work.....again earning money to pay off my debts right up until the last minute as go on holiday tomorrow, so as you can see whilst I have been frivoulous (SP?) and silly I have taken it on the chin and am prepared to work hard in order to rectify this situation. I think there has to be a balance.
