BHS Guide - How to lose customers...

Went into our local BHS furniture Store (Read Allders by any other name) - wanted a table priced at £125.
The are having a big furniture promotion - half price, plus 10% off this weekend etc.
Except they charge £25 delivery on all furniture.
So when you are sat down to place the order you see the little card with "£25 delivery charge on all furniture" and the price goes up.
This is poor.
If it is on everything, why not just stick it on the price? or at VERY LEAST put notices up with the furniture, so you know the real price you will pay.
You can not get out of it.
I wanted to collect from the store (still £25 fee) or the warehouse (still the fee) or the manufacturer (£25).
Didn't buy the table.
Won't be going back.
I feel like the "...only for new customers only" victim!

Sounds crazy to me. I could perhaps accept they would want £25 for delivery, but charge you the same if YOU collect?
No way. You did the right thing Swiss_Toni. I only hope more people have done the same and sent a clear message.Be careful who you open up to. Today it's ears, tomorrow it's mouth.0 -
Some companies charge obscene fees for delivery. If companies like John Lewis can do free, why do others charge so much?0

Because there are a lot of stupid people out there. Why else would someone buy a TV from Dixons/Currys/Comet/etc, when John Lewis will sell you the same TV for less, give you a free 5 year warranty and deliver it for free.0 -
I know but people do believe that John Lewis is expensive.....................................................................JeremyMarried 9th May 20090

I was dissapointed by BHS last week @ York. The wife went to purchase a nice jewerly box for our youngest daughter it said on the shelfs 30% off. She waited in checkout for a few minutes before being served, turned out that the box wasnt 30% but every else on the shelf was, umm it wasn't out on the shelf by accident. While she was there I saw some tea sets with a big sign saying reduced from such a price today, accept I couldn't find a single tea set of all the sort they had that was actually reduced by 30%. Shall not shop there again. They did my a favour anyhow bought a nice tea set for £6 at Monks cross.0
