Most suitable C/C to BT

Hi al,

My sainsbury's 0% is about to expire on 3 Dec. I want to BT around £2,800 from it to another C/C. I've just ordered my £2.00 report from Equifax (should arrive this week) and will also order online today from Experian. (thanks to yorkshireboy ).

I haven't applied to anything since Dec/04 and by the end of Oct will complete 1 year at my currently job. I'm getting around £23K gross; so my question is:

What do you reckon would be my best choice to apply? Considering I need at least £3K to BT. I emailed Ulster bank for an application for as their Gold card offers £3K minimum, 9mts 0%, no BT fee. I am also uncertain about barclaycard 10mts offer, as I have just cancelled my barclays current account (dormant for couple of years) + the fact that they usually give low limit.

Advice is very much appreciated.

You need to be clear about your requirements. You mention Ulster Bank and then Barclaycard - only Ulster Bank gives 0% on purchases as well. Barclaycard (via the link on this board) is only 0% on BT's. Both have no BT fee.

You can't go for IF due to your Sainsbury's card.

I believe Ulster Bank is the only all singing, all dancing 9 month 0% card at the moment. There are some 6 month cards, but it depends again on your requirements?

By the way, why send for an Ulster Bank application pack when all the details are available online - including application?

I would have thought that, all things being good with your credit reports, you could have the pick of the bunch with only £2.8K to BT.

    Hi Yorkshireboy,

Yes, as you've advised I can't go IF (HBOS).

My question is: should I try ulster or barclaycard (.co.uk) or sthg else? As you've correctly mentioned Ulster is the only 9mts 0% now. Would you recommend any other?

BTW, I couldn't find an application online (Ulster), the only one is for anytime banking, I therefore suppose for existing customers only.

Thanks again for the prompt help.

Just to be clear, it's https://www.barclays.co.uk and follow the link through to credit cards to get the fee-free BT offer.

Ulster Bank have a minimum salary requirement of £20K (for the gold card) but also have a minimum credit limit of £3K - coincidentally just what you need. ;) I'm interested in this offer myself, but need to wait a short while before applying.

As to recommending others, I've done well with Egg, Virgin, LTSB, M&S, & Cap One - but these deals were taken out earlier this year.

My apologies, I was confusing it with something else I'd been looking at.
