Spoof emails .... a question

Over the last couple of months I've had upteen spoof emails from "ebay inc." saying my account needs updating etc. etc........ They all have been sent to an email address that I don't use for ebay and all look identical - so are easy to spot. I've religiously sent them to spoof@ebay.co.uk :A and always get a reply confirming that they are fake.

My question is....... "is it worth keep sending them to ebay - do they do anything???? or should I just delete them"

    Two lines of thought.

Ebay must get thousands every day (most from me!!!) and without evidence, they have no ammo to stop these people. If Ebay really were sent everyone we recieved, they would be aware that the problem is more widespread than they probably believe.

    But

These spammers/scammers/sods will carry on regardless anyway.

I delete most now, and send them a nice one every so often - just so they don't forget me!!!
  • Yes fair point - if people don't forward the emails on to ebay, the full extent of the problem is understated. I'll continue to forward them - after all, its no great effort
  • It's becuae of eBay we get the spam in the first place - I figure they deserve some too!!

    I always forward spoofs.

In similar vein I send spam snail mail back to companies - I swap the return envelopes and send them each other's rubbish - satisfying and who knows maybe they will get the message! They also pay to get their competitor's c**p which seems like justice too :s

    Cheers

What a fantastic idea, I'll start doing that right away, it will also save on my rubbish/recycling!
    I haven't got one!

Dear Grumpy - have always posted unsolicited C**P back where it came from - was never clever enough to think of swopping envelopes round !!!
    But will from now on.
    Thanks for that.
