Are Bank of Cyprus fairly solid - I ask because if went bust then the first part of the compensation would have to come from Cyprus..

Anyone any experience of opening an account with them over the phone? It can't be done over the web - do you have to supply identity documents for the bond or do they just do an electoral register check?

I applied one of this beginning of this month. No need any ID document, just a cheque from my account. Cheque cleared from my account VERY quick. But confirmation still not received. So not very impressed. I opened the one with BM which is 7.17% better rate and quicker, already up and running although open 4 days later.
