33, no pension, fair amount of debt. Is there any point?
I'm 33 years old, so have about 37 working years left in me. My current employer has a very attractive pension scheme (I think), matching up to 10% of salary sacrifice (so I sacrifice 10% and they pay in the same). The trouble as I see it, is even if I stay at this firm for the rest of my working life (unlikely in the…

Govt medical experts are wrong says Prudential.
I have been informed by Prudential that Government medical experts are wrong. Massive exposure to Passive Smoking for over 25 years does not cause any medical problems, does not reduce life expectancy at all. It is therefore irrelevant when considering enhancement of retirement pension.

Lump sum or maximise pension when ill?
I've read a number of threads that generally advise to maximize the pension and not be tempted to convert pension to a lump sum when the conversion rate is 12:1. However, this advice is generally given with the rider that the person has a normal life expectancy. How low would you estimate your life expectancy before you…
