Civil Service Pension - do I need to be checking on annuities etc?
I'm nearly 60 and about to receive my Civil Service pension. I left my Civil Service employment nearly 20 years ago but had over 20 years service in one of HM Dockyards from the 70s to the 90s. Can I assume the Capita valuations of my lump sum and pension payouts are the maximum payouts and I don't need to be checking on…

Increase your pension up to £25 a week: Steve Webb
Haven't seen any discussin of this yet ..... and looks from the scant detail that it may be attractive to those with some savings that qualify. If they also make this a part of the base pension then it would be particularly attractive to those that have deferred. My wife has deferred for 4 years and presumably her £25 per…

Why is voluntary Class 2 NI contribution so low? Are the gov mugs?
I understand that if you pay £2.50 or something a week for Class 2 voluntary NI, it counts as a state pension year. So for 30 years, I could do nothing, except pay £2.50 a week, and then when I reach the retirement age, get a full state pension of around £5-6k per year. Why don't the government do something? Its a shocking…

crystallised pots and trivial commutation
Is it permissible to apply triviality to a crystallised pot? That is, to either traditional triviality with a cut-off at £18k, or "stranded pots" triviality with cut-off at £2k?
