credit cards - transfer troubles
Hi, I've always paid my 2 credit cards off in full each month by direct debit. With extra outlay at the moment (moving house!) I wanted to take advantage of a Sainsburys 0% bt. Sainsburys end - no problem. Opposite end - not so easy! First time round my direct debit came out even though I'd transferred the balance in…

Cancelling credit cards after transfer
Is it good, bad or doesn't make a difference if you are a credit card tart and cancel each credit card as you transfer the balance from it ? I am concerned it may affect my credit rating if i close them. I would prefer to close them as so not to have multiple credit cards with no balance on them.

Cahoot Webcard?
Does anyone use one of these for buying on the net? Apparantly it is really secure, as it generates a new number for every transaction online, therefore reducing the chance of fraud. I had a bad experience with being ripped off on a card used on the net so I am really wary of using any credit card online.

Reading through the threads on credit cards, a lot of the same kinds of quiries seem to crop up quite often. I think a useful addition to Martin's main article on how to gain free cash, would be some guidelines on the best way to process and manage them. Some points that spring to mind are: - By how much it is 'safe' to go…

SBT Cards
Are there any new cards to do SBTs with on the market. Does anyone know of any others apart from Mint and Egg? Just finished with these two and none of my others do SBTs without incurring charges for them. Other cards maxed out (for free cash - not debt).

MBNA, Barclaycard, RBS increase interest rates
I have received a letter informing me than from September MBNA will charge another 2%pa on the standard rates on one of my cards with them. [That's 20.9% up from 18.9%] Now I never actually pay any standard interest, so the change is pretty academic. But I wondered - is this the start of a trend of rising interest rates on…
