uninstalling a stubborn program
Hi again. My laptop has somehow become home for a program by the name of "Zip Cruncher". This has monopolised most of my files but it will not allow it to be uninstalled by the normal method. I tried system restore which failed twice, and I even downloaded a programme to uninstall it and even that failed. This seems quite…

User data collected by Facebook and Google?
My question is only to ask do most people know about this? I regard myself as a very much above average person in terms of technical knowledge (Except for cameras and photography and building work) yet despite this I was quite stunned, shocked and yes I would even say "HORRIFIED" to learn that when I'm logged into specific…

KVM switch & remapped mouse buttons...?
I've been using a KVM switch to share my trackball amongst multiple PCs. The two extra buttons on the trackball toggle scroll-mode on/off in Firefox, etc., making up for the lack of a scroll-wheel. Perfect. However, when I plug the trackball directly into my PC, the two extra buttons now work as page back/forward buttons.…

New TV advice.
Hello. My trusty Samsung LE40A656 is showing signs of giving up after 12 years of good service - white vertical lines have started to show on the right side of the screen. I am on the lookout for a new one and as Black Friday/Cyber Monday are only round the corner, thought I should wait until then to see if I could pick up…

Digital radio and TV
Not sure if this is the correct board or not - apologies if not. There was a question in the Feedback section of last weeks Radio Times from somebody asking how to find TalkSport 2 on their DAB radio so they could listen to this winters cricket. The advice given was simply to retune/rescan their channels. Now I've been…

Three / Four direction phone holder (probably doesn't exist)
I'm looking for a phone holder, that can hold 3 or 4 phones at once, all pointing in different directions. This is so that each phone can take synchronised photos and they can be stitched together to make a panoramic photo. Very odd request I know. Has anyone ever seen such a thing? Finding it hard to google such a device.…

Everyone's question is relavant to someone.
Techie Stuff is the title so it's inevitable questions of varying degrees will be posted. Over the years, I've asked so many "dumb" questions as have others, but they're only dumb if you don't know the answers. I'd politely like all those who are knowledgeable, not to look down too harshly on those who, irrespective of age…

Power Banks
Hi, Can any of you recommend any power banks on eBay? I'm wanting one for about £10 which gives a charge or two (or is that wishful thinking?). I've had a couple of Anker ones in the past but I am not willing to spend £30+. Those are now long gone as nephews and nieces at University have pinched them! I did order a cheap…

A question for photographers
I've got a Sony Cyber-shot RX100 III that I just use only on one of the two basic "automatic" settings as I'm not experienced or knowledgeable about photography and I was trying to take pictures of a sheltered back window that did have the sun shining into it and the pictures all came out like the one seen here in this…
