Student Loan Direct Debit or Not
Hi Folks, I have less than two years until my loans are repaid and have a letter advising to move to direct debit. Will this be a good decision? As I understand, my gross of 45000 is taxed. From that, 21000, is taken off, and then 0.09% of whats left is divided by 12 which = the monthly student loan take out from the…

Advice on Student Loans
I’m looking for some advice on what to do as I have no idea! I live in Scotland and took out a student loan in 2007 and 2008. These are Plan 1. I currently earn over the threshold for repayments but it does not come off my wages. I have phoned the Student Loans Company on two occasions - November 2016 and June 2017. In…

SLC: Letter received, repay within 2 years
I received a letter from the SLC, specifying that I am within 2 years of repaying the loan and giving me the option of paying the whole lot or setting up a direct debit. If a direct debit is setup, what happens if: - I become unemployed? - my income drops? (presumably they would have to recalculate and adjust the DD?)

How to access the OU course Managing Money for Young Adults?
Apologies if this is the wrong forum - it was the nearest I could find. I was delighted to see that the OU had launched a course on Managing Money for Young Adults - and spent quite a long time trawling the OU website trying (without success) to find details of the course and where to register. Can anyone direct me to this…

Is student loan repayment system fair?
I've recently discovered the way repaying my student loan works exactly, I pay a certain amount to the HMRC every month and they then pay the student loans company at the end of each tax year. After getting a statement through recently I realised i'm getting charged monthly interest on the same balance over the year though…

So some sort of help so she can have a…
