Business borrowing from customers.
Hello, I'd really love some advice from you good people! My child's breakfast club are going to adding £80 onto every child's bill in a couple of months time so they can pay for building work. They're then going to repay by crediting £5 a month onto our bills. I can afford to pay it, but it just feels a bit dodgy. I assume…

Two Issues ?
Morning all, hope you may be able to advise me. I have two issues. 1. Ordered a product for our business, next day delivery, so ordered before 10am as per the terms of the supplier. Delivery did not come next day, instead will be Monday (tomorrow) 3 days later. Not a courier fault, it's the suppliers fault. They did offer…

Charity Calendar one off's
In past years a group on facebook has brought a calendar out with pix of us all at gigs etc. Sadly 2016 calendars didn't go as well as expected and we only just broke even. These were bought in as a job lot of 50 from vistaprint and sold at a profit which went to a charity that is dear to our life. Is there anywhere that…

PayPal Invoices - VAT?
It seems from the information I received when filling in a PayPal invoice that I should be charging my clients VAT. But isn't that just for businesses? I don't remember a section for VAT on my tax form?

Sponsorted events and gift aid
Hi, our charity recently ran a sponsored event and most of the sponsors ticked the box so we could reclaim gift aid. When it comes to reclaiming the gift aid, is it a case of listing all the sponsors with their home addresses, post codes etc onto the online system for processing? I'm new to this so not too sure

Commercial mortgage - advice please!
I currently run a rapidly expanding business turning over £60k/yr, approx £40k profit (forecasted for this year). It is expanding and therefore these are conservative estimates. I'm considering expanding into another section of the same industry which requires premises - I've been looking for places to rent but these are…

Where do you buy your stationery?
I am a volunteer for a small community organisation and responsible for communications etc. This means that I spend a fair bit on stationery, principally printer ink and paper, coloured paper, laminate pouches, envelopes and stamps. I wouldn't dream of charging any expenses but until more people get email I'm forking out…

lending small biz savings via p2p - accountancy ramifications
Hi Our small business has managed to accumulate £2000 since it opened 9 months ago, and I expect this to increase by about £300/month for foreseeable future. Savings a/cs for SBs have rates even more dismal than normal savings accounts, so we were thinking of lending the money out on P2P. Lendinvest looks promising as the…

Does anyone have any experience with expired domains?
I recently registered a new domain name, however, there is another variation of it that I'd also like to register. According to WHOIS the domain expired towards the end of last month and I can also see that it's currently up for auction but with no bids. Can anyone recommend my best plan of attack here? I'm thinking if I…

Can I sell my kleeneze catalogues
Hi, I previously worked for kleeneze but I now have moved on to a better business and easier to do than kleeneze, I have nearly 300 catalogues (I say nearly because I have 2 boxes of 100 catalogues making 200 and 1 box opened but I no some of the catalogues are missing, I need to count box 3) all still valid until next…

New business - personal travel agent. Thoughts?
Hi, I have worked in retail (successfully) for 17 years, and have recently taken a break. I really started to detest my job, and left. I had received a fairly large inheritance, and so I got married and have just finished a 7 month, 31 country honeymoon. I have always wanted to start my own business as I consider myself…

Hi there, I am starting up as a sole trader. I need to build a website that will be full of info on my business and has contact details. It also needs to be showing up on searches from mobile phones. I have bought my domain name, but am now finding that the site I bought it from is offering all of these offers which I'm…

Mobile Grocery Shop
OK, so not the most original idea but I have a few questions. What licences would I need to sell groceries out of a mobile shop? Do I need street vendor licence or something else? If I sold alcohol (to take away!) what licence would I need for that? Just an idea I am looking at and I need to know costs etc to see if it is…
