Notice accounts and rising rates
I have a 90 day notice savings account. The bank has increased its rate but under a new "Issue" which they say is available to new and existing customers. However, they say I have to give the 90 days notice and apply for a new account to get the better rate.

Hi there, A bit of a strange question, but I am trying to find the web address of what used to be the Woolwich Building Society. It no longer exists, but wondered if anyone knows the website address it used to use so I can visit it on the WayBackMachine? I know its a long shot, but any help would be great! Thanks

Junior S&S Isa - Advice
Hello, Both my children , aged 8 and 3 have Cash ISA's. The rates are pretty low, ones in Nationwide, the other NS&I. I'm looking to risk moving them both to Junior S&S ISA's and transferring the balances built up within the Cash ISA's. I'm open to the risk this results in. Is there anything else I should consider here…

Benefit of your hindsight with Global Tracker Funds
The impressive discussions (Global Equities, next decade) and your experiences of drops lately make me feel really out of my depth but also curious. I understand the equity markets is volatile at the moment. So, should investors with a large cash lump sum to invest for 10 - 15 years buy Global tracker funds take advantage…

Beware RAISIN "deals"
After jumping through hoops to set up a Raisin fixed savings account following the MSE blagged link to get bonus payments and depositing the required amount I had a message returned telling me I had not been successful for that offer and that I could select one of their other (NON BONUS) savings accounts. Something a bit…

Switching from ACC to INC for more flexibility?
Good morning all, I am approaching retirement and I was thinking recently about switching my VLS 60 fund from ACC to INC and having the annual dividend payments paid into my bank account. I know the yield of VLS 60 is about 1.4% or so. I may continue to make investments into the fund, thus kind of "reinvesting the…

£1,000 in Vanguard LifeStrategy 100% Equity just to see if I can take the risk over 6-12 months
I have put in £1,000 in Vanguard LifeStrategy 100% Equity (Accum) just to see if I can take the risk over 6-12months. I tend to check fund values, stock market performance more often than I know I should. Just a bad habit... No more to be added to the initial £1000. I will see if I can handle the ups and downs even though…

"KID" Performance Scenarios
I don’t put any value on these figures personally but I’m
curious if anyone here knows how they arrive at the figures? The performance scenarios range from Stress, Unfavourable,
Moderate, Favourable. I’ve looked at an ETF recently where the Favourable scenario
was a loss after 5 years. Anyone what factors are used to…

I am one of 3 Trustees of a Trust Fund. This is held in Trust for my late husband's cousin. She is an only child. Her father said in his Will to make the Trust of all his money to her. My Post Office savings 2 year account has matured and I want to move it to another account with a better interest rate but PO says I can only withdraw the money to my current account, which I would then have to transfer to the other savings account rather than a direct transfer Whats the deal with the tax situation on…

HSBC GS Balanced (acc) v HSBC GS Dynamic (acc)
I've been investing since 2018, mostly in HSBC GS Balanced (acc) funds. I've been happy and comfortable at this level during this time. For 22/23 financial year I'm thinking about maxing out 22/23 year's S&S ISA with HSBC GS Dynamic (acc) to up the risk slightly. Does the difference between the equity 59% / bonds 33%…

Pension for my child
I'm considering opening a pension for my new daughter (only 2 months old!). I've read up on this and I think I understand how it works, but I haven't been able to find any information about one key thing - if she doesn't live to be 55 years old what will happen to the pension pot I have saved up for her prior to turning…

Alternatives to VGOV
I've never previously invested in Gilts, but following advice here and elsewhere, about 9 months ago I rationalised my equity ETFs and Funds - I had about 70 of them! - down to basically VWRP and VGOV. VGOV is killing me! It's down 7% since the start of the year. I can't foresee any circumstances in which it will ever stop…

CAPITAL GAINS AND SHARES
Hi, we have shares we must sell with profit - bought between 1991-2011 - as an employee share plan left in probate. We have other shares that over a period ranging from 2003-2020 have lost money. I need to ask: 1. Putting shares into someone else's name is the same as selling for capital gains purposes? 2. to calculate…

Return expectations - Global Equity, next decade
Has anyone given this a read? https://occaminvesting.co.uk/return-expectations-2022-edition/ So, if inflation isn't transitory, it seems investing in global equities will produce less of a real loss than cash, not not a gain. Interesting. Food for thought certainly!
