What to do with £15k
Hi All - more looking for suggestions rather than advice with this. Had about £30k in cash pre-pandemic and invested half around March last year as I was convinced that we had not seen the bottom. That went into Lifestrategy 80. The fund has since rebounded and then some. The remaining £15k continues to do nothing for me.…

Holding both Marlborough UK Micro-Cap and Nano-Cap
Hello, In your opinion, is it worth holding both Marlborough UK Micro-Cap & Nano-Cap Growth funds with an even split between them both to spread risk. Does holding both of these funds, offer meaningful diversification or would I be duplicating? Thank you

Does my Scottish Widows DC workplace pension have too much gilts/bonds?
I'm in my late 40's, not planning to retire until about 60, more details below. I have a Scottish Widows workplace pension which is currently the destination of most of my investment for retirement. It's currently in what I believe they call a "lifestyling" setup, which means it will automatically reduce the proportion of…

Has your Chip account unexpectedly changed to ChipX?
I checked for the expected £1.50 charge of mine and my wife's Chip+1 accounts today to find that we've both been charged £3. On investigation it seems that we've both been changed to the ChipX account despite neither of us intentionally doing so. Has this happened to anyone else?

Fund or shares tracking Halifax UK Property index or similar
I'm looking for something that tracks UK house prices. I found Castle Trust House, but that's really inflexible eg 2 or 5 year term. I'd like something that is more of a regular/monthly investment that can be sold/cashed in whenever. Does this exist?

Motivation is both the lower costs and the organisational…

FT Advisor podcast on VLS range
At the end of last week FT Advisor posted a well considered podcast on the VLS range exploring how advisors have been using them and warning how the high US tech and long dated bond allocation that has so worked well in recent years are increasingly not what is being found in risk managed model portfolios. Will the VLS…

Matured Junior Cash ISA with Tesco Bank
My son turned 18 and he can finally have access to his money. (It started as a CTF, back in 2003, and has moved to a Junior Cash ISA with Coventry, then NS&I and finally Tesco Bank.) He phoned up to ask that it be transferred to their best Savings account, but they will not do anything without him proving his identity, via…

Capital gains tax (and all that jazz)
I have a lump sum coming my way in 3 months time and am trying to understand if there is any real benefit in puting it in a Vanguard ISA, or just add it to my existing (non ISA) fund. Part of the problem is I don't fully understand how CGT works. If I have £120k in a non ISA account and it increases in value by 10% in the…

Using LifeStrategy 20 as a Bond Fund
As someone who's unsure of what bond fund(s) to invest in as part of a retirement portfolio, would simply choosing the Vanguard LifeStrategy 20 be a good move? This is obviously 80% bond funds of different durations, grades etc. It's trusting in Vanguard to pick the right mix. I currently have around 90% of my pension SIPP…
