To continue to hold Zopa and Ratesetter?
I have held holdings in both Zopa and Ratesetter since 2016 and have had an excellent return on both with no problems. I have read some articles in which warnings about continuing to hold peer to peer in the near future could result in losses. I know of course that there is no financial coverage on these "investments". I…

How does CGT work?
If i bought eg £50K of a fund in 20/21 then £50k of the same fund in 21/22 and then in 5 years time the initial £100k was valued at £130K and i decided to sell £40k all held in the same platform on which buying price is CGT calculated? Thank you.

Negotiating lower platform fee with Hargreaves Lansdown
Hi, HL charges 0.45% on investments up to £250K, and then 0.25% on investments above £250K for its platform fee. In comparison, Vanguard only charges 0.15%... I understand that HL might provide better tools, choice, discount on some fund fees etc. but if most of my investment is going to be against Vanguard trackers, and…

OEIC settlement dates
When selling OEICs on HL/ii I have been able to reinvest the funds the day after they are sold. Does this mean the platform is bridging the amount since they know they will receive the funds a few days later? And, presumably, if I want to withdraw the proceeds of the sale I have to wait the c.5 days of the settlement…

Raisin Savings interest start period delay
Be aware that Raisin insist on a faster payment to them when opening an account but will delay interest payment on your money by at least 2 days. Not a biggy but something to be aware of. It is apparently covered in their Terms and conditions. I opened an account on 7th January with my money getting to their partner bank…

Bond Index ETFs/Funds
I'm interested in the mechanics of these. Do they hold the bonds till maturity? Say they do and then receive the bond amount (£100 for example), do they pay this out to the fund holders or reinvest this? Do they reinvest it in new bonds entering the index, or the existing bonds in the index?

FCA proposes single easy access rate (SEAR) per institution
The FCA have today proposed the introduction of a common easy access interest rate per institution and account type (ISA v taxable): https://www.fca.org.uk/news/press-releases/fca-acts-help-customers-get-better-rates-cash-savings The cynic would observe that this will probably benefit the lazy, to the detriment of the…
