Advice for my Nephew
My Nephew has just inherited a “just into” 6 figure sum and has asked me to advise him what to do with it. His situation is that he is in his early twenties living at home and working as a landscape gardener. He pays £500/month rent (food & bills included) but gets to keep £300 if it goes into an isa. This with other…

ISA - moving contents to children for IHT purposes
I'd like to move the contents of a stocks and shares ISA to my two children (both adult) to avoid IHT in the future. Presumably there will have to be a sale and repurchase of the underlying shares, but does anyone have any tips as to the most cost and tax effective way of getting these shares into the children's hands?

Which platform for vanguard or similar funds?
I'm looking to start buying vanguard (or equivalent) funds, starting from zero and putting around £500 a month into them so it accumulates and snowballs over time. My confusion lies with which platform to use, as the fee structures appear quite complex. I know vanguard does its own platform but should I consider any…

Buy OEICs on margin, which platform?
I'd like to buy and hold UK domiciled OEICs on margin, but couldn't find any platform offering this. I've found that Interactive Brokers has very low interest rate on margin loans, but I couldn't find any UK domiciled OEICs on their trading software "TWS". Alternatively, a low fee UK domiciled global index tracking ETFs…

Freetrade app
I generally stay away from shares or at least single company ones. My brother has had one of his friends in his ear about this app telling him how 'great' it is and how he's made 'x-amount' in the past few months and it's 'free'. I'm very sceptical. Looking on HL i'd have to pay to buy a share on top of the actual share…

Bid/Ask Price
Bid/Ask Price This two-way price quotation shows the price that shares in this company can be bought and sold for. The bid price is the maximum the buyer is willing to pay to buy and the ask price is the minimum the seller is willing to receive to sell. The difference between the two is called the spread and is an…

2019 a good year for assets.
Since Jan 1st. My stock portfolio up roughly 24% Bitcoin up over 100% Property hard to judge and dependent on local market, I find it difficult to find unbiased figures or opinions. Trying to work out my strategy
Whilst trying to avoid questions such as "when do I sell?" And "what stocks do I buy?", I've been supplementing my usual drip feed of stocks with some targeted purchases of FTSE100 stocks (because I'm just starting down this path) I have one at 30% up, one at 20% and another at 15% up so I'm pretty happy but because…
