Savings account with no mobile access
Hello, I am looking to start an easy acess savings account but have two requirements that I am struggling to meet. Any recommendation's would be greatly received. I work on an oil rig and spend pretty much half the year out of mobile phone signal, so I need an account that is not going to send me mobile sms codes. I would…

Vanguard ETF Yields - pre or post charges?
Hello I am struggling to find in writing whether the Vanguard ETF yields are pre or post charges. For example the following: VANGUARD FUNDS PLC FTSE ALL WORLD HIGH DIVIDEND YIELD (VHYL) Has a yield of 3.49 % and an annual charge of .29 % Do I need to subtract the charge to get the true yield or is it already reflected?

relative speed of transfers out
Generally when Faster Payments is used for bank transfers, the transfer completes within minutes, or an hour or two. Some building societies, and banks, make transfers via an intermediary bank, and the transfer only completes the next day (perhaps depending on time of day the transfer is requested). I'm interested in…

Bank accounts, tax codes and the HMRC - changes in Nov 2019
I could be putting two and two together but over the last two months I've been emptying a number of accounts and moving money to a Marcus 1.5% account (opened last September 2018) up to the FCSC limit. Apart from this nothing has changed in my wider savings / investments. I've noticed today that my tax code has changed by…

Looking for other options for my rainy day fund.
Hi there, I'm sorry if this has been asked before but I couldn't find anything that explained it to me simply enough. I'm currently using a Natwest Cash ISA account as a rainy day fund and each month I'm able to push between £50-£75 from my Rewards account. This Rainy Day Fund is there in case I over indulge or fancy…

Charting with dividends reinvested?
Is there interactive charting available anywhere that allows selected individual stocks performance comparison over time with divs reinvested? For example, in HL's charting tool AZN vs GSK looks like you'd have done better with AZN over most periods. But it doesn't appear to allow for the fact that GSK pays a much bigger %…

Virgin regular saver 2%
I've opened one of these to build up an emergency fund, it allows £250 in a month. My question is how do I pay into it? Does it matter what date of the month? It's been open a few weeks and I haven't deposited yet. By month does it mean say between 10 Dec and 9 Jan or any time in Dec then any time in Jan? Thanks, never had…

HMRC refers to PEPs, do they still exist?
On a number of HMRC's information pages PEPs are mentioned for example http://www.gov.uk/tax-sell-shares which is a very prominent high level URL not some obscure one that may have been forgotten to be updated. My understanding was all PEP accounts were converted to ISA accounts in 2008. Is this not true? Do some people…

NS&I Index linking - why is the change in the index less than the average of the monthly figures?
I've just had a statement for my NS&I Index-linked savings for the past year. It is still based on RPI. The RPI start level (Oct18) and end level (Oct 19) quoted on the statement tally with the RPI tables on the government website. Subtracting one from the other gives a percentage change of 2.07% in RPI for that period.…

The next 50K
Just found out that I am due to come into an inheritance of 50K. This is pretty much unexpected- I thought the figure would be 10K at most. The question is, what do I do with it? Current position is as follows: Late 30's, single with no dependents; Basic Rate Taxpayer, but next promotion would put me into the higher…

Regular Saver Vs Normal savings account?
I'm looking at moving some of my money out of my current account and into something where it will earn a bit more interest. To begin with the regular saver accounts looked really good for the interest rates, but after looking at it a bit more am i wrong in thinking getting lower interest on a lump sum for a whole year will…

'round up' spending apps
Has anyone here used and can recommend one of the round-up type spending apps? The ones where it rounds up the transaction to the nearest £1 and saves the difference. Is it good, did you think it was worth it and what is your opinion on its ease of use and reliability etc? I'm considering downloading one but just…

Help with letter from Halifax please
Hi I received this from Halifax today. " We wrote to you about some changes to the Junior Cash ISA you're responsible for in September 2016. In this letter , we should have explained that we were removing the relationship interest rate between this account and your cash ISA. I'm sorry that we didn't tell you this at the…

Are Index tracker funds "managed"
Buy managed I mean does the manager still try to pick stocks, reshuffle money between stocks and stuff? How does the manager of an index tracker fund decide what stocks to invest new money into? Also when using a compound interest calculator, do I set the compound rate to daily, monthly, yearly etc? And is the compound…

Bond allocations
I am currently 100% invested in global equities in both pension and ISA. I am 35 and have been thinking about how to go about adding some bond holdings as I get older. Say I wanted to have 10% bonds at age 45. One option would be to wait until then and buy into a bond fund(s) at 10% of my current portfolios value. Another…
