Capital Gains Tax due on partial sale
Say I invested £100000 in Apple over the course of 2 years. The capital growth is 20% and now the investment sits at £120000. I’ve made a capital gain of £20000. If I were to sell £100000 of the investment and leave the gain £20000 invested would I be liable for Capital Gains Tax ?

Robo advisors
I've got a small lump sum (about 2k) as well as monthly contributions to invest and as I am new to this and do not have a lot of time I was looking at Robo advisors. I know that they don't get you a return as good as you can get with manual investment but a medium risk plan there would probably still be more effective than…

Investment of Care home savings
Hello All, We have recently needed to move my 86 year old mother in law to a dementia care home, and subsequently had to sell her home. The good news is that the home is really nice and she's settled in very well and I'd say quite happy. The frightening element are the fees, which I now know to be fairly standard, and will…

Help on ISA's
So I've never had an ISA but I think it's time I started trying to make my money work harder. My Husband and I have plenty of cash savings and I have a decent pension (he's a stay at home Dad and my pension offers sufficient income for the both of us, but he'll return to work next year and start a pension then) I am now…

Impact of emerging markets on Vanguard ETFs
I have charted Vanguard's All World ETF (VWRD, in yellow) against the Developed World ETF (VEVE, in blue) and there is barely a cigarette paper between them. That suggests that emerging markets - the area within VWRD but not in VEVE - has tracked the global market, but when I add the emerging markets ETF (VFEM, in green)…

How best to invest/save £10k today
Hello all I'm after some advice. My wife and I have managed to save up about £20,000 over the last few yeas but my wife is really quite risk averse so this has always just been in a cash ISA. I've managed to convince her that that we don't need all that money in an easy access account and could afford to lock some of it…

Nationwide Flex Direct £1000 pay in requirement. No Visa credits new requirement?
To earn 5% AER (4.89% gross p.a.) interest on balances up to £2,500 you’ll need to pay in £1,000 a month, not counting transfers from other Nationwide accounts or Visa credits. If you’ve had a FlexDirect before, you won’t receive this offer again, unless your new FlexDirect account is in a different name or names. "not…

Any suggestions as to where to put it for half decent returns? Currently moved to my Kent Reliance easy access earning 1.42% a month. And move £500 a month from that into the Kent Reliance own regular saver giving 3%. Also put in £600 a month into a S&S isa. I move all my wages into the 1.42% account until it moved into…

Chaps I have a S+S ISA account with Iweb for the tax year 2017-2018 and another with Cavendish for the years 2018-2019 and 2019-2020 to use the automated monthly investment function.
