Securities lending in ETF, what the?
So I was looking at ETFs and found a well recognised, Fully Replicated/Physical (non synthetic one) via Blackrock iShares. However when I look at the holdings, there is a section to the right of it called "Securities Lending" https://www.ishares.com/uk/professional/en/products/253716/ishares-ftse-100-ucits-etf-acc-fund Not…

S&S ISA or SIPP?
I'm curious to know people's thoughts on this. I have a defined benefit pension from a previous employer (starts at 60) and a definied contribution one with my current employer. For the latter I am invested in a low cost world tracker and I salary sacrifice 15-20% each month, my employer contributes 10%. I have a S&S ISA…

Dividend Reinvestment, fractional shares possible?
For example an investment trust or etf pays out the dividends. One new share costs £10 but the dividend is only £9. Is it possible to buy 90% of one share with the £9? Otherwise the £9 will just sit as cash which is not really what I want to happen.

Al Rayan fixed term products question
Thinking of opening a 3 year fixed term bond. I would prefer interest/profit to be paid annually for tax purposes but this does not appear to be an option. Product information states: When you make your application, you can choose to have your profit paid quarterly or on maturity. Does anyone know if you opt for quarterly…

LISA choices
Hi guys, I've been putting money into a S&S ISA for a few years; nothing massive but it's now at a level where I wouldn't have to panic for a while if I lost my job, or the roof needed replacing. I'm 38 and am considering switching my contributions to a LISA for longer-term savings. I could salary sacrifice further with my…

Child Trust Fund (of c£15k) matures 2022. Is lifestyling a good idea?
Our son's Child Trust Fund is currently worth approximately £15k. It's the investment type, with HSBC, and I understand that these are no longer lifestyled as they approach maturity. We're very cautious/inexperienced investors and I was always reassured by lifestyling. How useful/necessary is it? Should I consider…

Spreadbetting account with Ayondo as a pseudo ISA
Having maxed out my stocks and shares ISA allowance I’m looking for a cheap and tax-efficient way of ‘buying’ more shares in companies I already hold in my ISA. I’ve looked at spreadbetting as an option. I’m not interested in leverage/using margin and a spread betting account with Ayondo seems to offer a route, as it seems…

Investing in Property Funds, is It a Good Idea?
Hi everyone! I have another thread about investing my inheritance money, but wanted to start a new one with this specific question. Investing in stocks and shares is quite confusing to me, but I always felt attracted to invest in property. Whilst I don't want to have the hassle of buy to sell or buy to rent, I found out…

First Direct S&S
Hi all, Until recently I have been focusing on savings - I'm mid 30s, no house/car (hasn't been a goal - getting on the housing ladder might be on the agenda within the next 5 years) but saving regularly every month so I've managed to gather up around 30k in savings. I am hoping with a job change my salary might increase…

Stop losses or limit orders on non-UK stocks
Hi, Are there any stockbrokers (ideally offering ISAs, but not mandatory) that offer stop losses or limit orders on shares that aren't UK-listed? I've so far looked at iWeb, AJ Bell, Hargreaves Lansdown and Interactive Investor, and they all only do this on UK shares.

Saving/investment/ISA (?) for the future of my baby
Hi everyone My girlfriend and I are thinking to put gifts for my 7 weeks old son in some protected place in bank. I do not think will be 1,000s at all, but on the long run they will probably be. We are unsure and not convinced about Junior ISA, especially because he will gain control of them when he turns 18,but there a…

Ratesetter not being transparent??
If you are a RateSetter Investor have you noticed that you can’t now see where your money is waiting in the queue to be matched to a contract. This means you can’t decide if you want to leave it in the queue or lower the rate you have set. Why has this facility been removed? Are Ratesetter trying to hide this information…

Woodford and HL?
I was browsing through the Hargreaves Lansdown site (I'm not a customer BTW) and came across something that made me think. If you investigate one of their standard portfolios, if you look at underlying holdings ... you still find... LF Woodford Equity Income as a holding ( in one example - 4.6% - for conservative! growth).…
