Have Oaknorth stolen my money?
I opened an ISA with Oaknorth recently, on suggestion via the MSE website. Yesterday, I transferred £500 into it to 'start it up' but obviously didn't read up on the requirements properly as you need to transfer £1000, which I don't have. Cue 10 minutes before connecting to customer services then the call cut off; another…

buying US shares
I normally hold UK shares or funds. Are there any additional tax implications or administrative requirements if I purchase a US share traded on NASDAQ in a normal dealing account, not SIPP or ISA? If the platform gives the choice to buy in USD or GBP, does it makes sense to choose one over the other. My account is funded…

Leaving cash in Fidelity platform for fees
Hi I have a sipp, AVC, ISA with fidelity. I notice they sell find units of their choice to pay for charges and fees and there are fees on those small sales also. It's it more first effective to leave cash in the 3 accounts to pay these fees or just let them sell units? If i leave cash out will be out of the market and i…

NS&I still worth it?
I know Martin has mentioned this in the past, but wondered if the stance had changed at all, as I have heard conflicting things, from they are good (and safe) to not worth the odds of winning anything on Premium Bonds as interest? I did have some Premium Bonds years ago and withdrew as it wasn't much, but now I could…

Fees 'n' Funds
I've been investing in a S&S ISA for myself and JISA for my daughter for the past year. Both accounts have roughly £1,500 in currently and are with Orbis. My daughter is two, and I plan to invest just £25 per month plus occasional ad-hoc £200 additions at birthdays and Christmas. My S&S ISA was set up mainly for me to get…

Am I ‘first time buyer’ if I'm a beneficiary of a discretionary property trust?
I've never owned my own home, and want to open a Help to Buy ISA. However, in 2005 my Father died, and two years later my Mother set up a Nil Rate Band Discretionary trust of which I am a trustee and a beneficiary. An Instrument of Variation was applied to my Father’s will and the value of his half of the house was then…

Nationwide Flex Account
Hi, Can I open a Nationwide Flex account at 5% with £2500, and use my Santander 123 to transfer the needed £1000 a month into the Nationwide. Then transfer that £1000 back out to Santander to get the better interest? Then repeat each month? Or does the £1000 need to be left in there? Thanks

Maximising potential interest rates with savings by juggling accounts
Hello people - could I please get a sense check on this idea? I have £81,000 to put somewhere reasonably easy access (i.e. max 90 days notice). I had thought about splitting the amount between: Charter Savings Bank 95 Day Notice - Issue 22 1.90% AER Charter Savings Bank 60 Day Notice - Issue 9 1.61% AER (to give me a bit…

Charges/OCF for F&C Investment Trust
I'm a bit confused about the overall charges for holding F&C IT. Fidelity has quoted me an OCF of 0.79% but I think this includes the transaction costs, however Trustnet have the OCF at 0.65% and Interactive Investor and the AIC at 0.56%. Who is right or are some platform including transaction costs?

NS&I Index Linked Savings Certificates renewal
Hi, would really appreciate advice please: Have received a renewal invitation from NS&I and the rate being offered is CPI +0.01% over either 2,3 or 5 years. I understand that the interest used to be based on RPI and that CPI is lower but have no idea whether this still represents good value? My gut feel is to keep it as it…
