Pound cost averaging investments
Please advise, I have invested for some years in index tracker funds and would now like to diversify to take account of the FSCS limit on stocks and shares isa. Question, if I sell some of the investment to open another index tracker fund do I lose the advantage of the units I’ve bought when the value dropped and how does…

Redundancy payout handling
I'm about to receive a large (for me) redundancy payout from my previous job. it's going to be just under £30K, and I'm not sure what I should do with it all. There are a few things that I'll do immediately, such as paying off cards, but then should I split the rest into different accounts? And if so, what sorts? Also,…

Interesting viewpoint?
A thoughtful article from Murray International. I bought it for the grandkids in 2013 and sold out last year for a 40% gain, because a lot of that was due to the Referendum devaluation. It seems some managers with a proven long term record have had difficulty adapting to the era of QE and central bank support. Do you think…

Opening a foreign fixed account - is it worth?
As I'm tired of catching the best rate on fixed accounts in our banks I decided to look into foreign accounts. Of course, it will not be an FSCS in place (some local scheme probably) but the % are better and maybe it's worth to try with some small amount £5k? What do you think? Some past bad experiences:eek:?

Instant Access Savings
As a small business owner it makes sense to me to set aside the VAT I'm due to pay into an Instant Access - ISA? Account? so that it's available when I need it and not sucked into the business. I can put aside a regular amount monthly. I've done a bit of digging but most instant access accounts limit withdrawals to once or…

Small/large cap allocation in Japan
How do people split their small/large cap allocation in Japan, because it certainly doesn’t mirror the UK/Europe model which I see as moderately better returns for slightly/moderately higher risk over the medium term. My two Japan-specific funds are Lindsell Train Japanese (large cap) and Shin Nippon (small cap). Charting…

No difference between funds
I am invested in 2 particular funds, which as far as I can tell are doing almost exactly the same thing. I find this fascinating, as although they are similar types of investments, L&G is specifically exUK whereas Blackrock Consensus 100 is 13% equities. Thoughts?

High Interest savings for business account?
Have a fair lump sat in my business account for many years now. Most of it is in HSBC's savings type account but the interest is just crap. While rates were low I didn't bother but realise I could be making a decent sum on current rates. Anyone know of decent savings accounts for business?

Personal Investment Bond
My father took this out some 33 years ago. Some years ago he assigned it to me, such that it will pay out to me on his death, or earlier if I cash it in. I understand that there may be income tax to pay if the cashing in pushes me into the Higher Rate income bracket, based on the current value + any amount redeemed -…

Cofunds Aegon Transfer
I held both ISA and GIA accounts with Cofunds for many years and then I applied to transfer from Cofunds Aegon to AJ Bell Youinvest in June 2018. A tortuous process which seemed to complete in November 2019, or so I thought. I’ve now received a statement from Aegon with a balance of £400+, split between the old ISA and…

Savings advice - are we doing the right things?
Between 2007 - 2009 I lost everything, newly started business, money, home, relationship, the lot. Decided to retrain as a Primary School Teacher which has been the best decision, also married again which is an even better decision. Meeting my future wife at that time was a blessing, we bought a house (in her name solely,…

What to do with savings
I've just turned 32. I've always rented, don't have a mortgage. I have approx 70-80k in savings, most of which is sitting in a Cash-ISA. The Cash-ISA was a fixed rate, but has expired over a year ago and will be the default variable rate now. I have been working full time pretty much since finishing uni. I make a pretty…
