Implications of relocating away from the UK
Hello, I am interested to know what the tax and other implications would be for someone with financial interests in the UK after moving away from the country. Imagine an EU citizen with more than 10 years full time employment in the UK who needs to relocate to the EU (possibly permanently). What would happen to a number of…

IFA fees
I need some opinions on an IFA that my parents have seen recently and the fees he's proposing to charge. My dad has a deferred final salary pension which he's due to collect in a few years. He saw the IFA who requested a transfer value and it was deemed to be worth over £500k. My dad subsequently had £ signs in his eyes…

Business and Personal Savings
Hi, I had a quick question in regards to FSCS protection. If I had £85,000 in savings in a bank, lets says Barclays, and £85,000 held in a business savings account which is operated under a limited company and I am a shareholder/director of the firm. If Barclays were to default, would I get back both my personal and…

I managed to open a Tesco current account a few months ago and moved £3000 into it which is earning 3%. My plan was to open another few between myself and my wife after the first had been successfully setup etc, but…

I own shares in my employer company, a foreign entity, and I used to receive dividend payments in GBP. They did this either by sending me GBP through Faster Payments from the UK branch, or sometimes by sending my…

wetherspoons free shares
Has anyone else received free shares as an employee of Wetherspoons? Is it correct that you lose the shares when you leave the company? Found this out a bit too late for DS, I think.

Easy to use S&S ISA platform for my mum
I've think I've finally convinced my mum to invest in a Stocks and Shares ISA. Can someone recommend a platform that is easy to use? She will be investing in low cost index linked funds (global, S&P 500 etc) and government bonds. She will be putting small amounts in regularly, maybe £500 per month and probably a lump sum…

Hi, I currently have £15,000 in savings in a Nationwide Flexclusive ISA earning 0.75 interest. I was considering changing to the Santender 123 account and depositing it in there but doesn't look like it will earn me much more? Any suggestions anyone? I need instant access to it. Thanks Melissa

Re-Paying Additional Mortgage
Hi Gang! I have some money left over from my second mortgage. Am I better off repaying the mortgage (2 year fix at 1.59%) or putting in a 2 year fixed bond (1.70%). Does it make any difference that the mortgage interest is calculated daily? Hope can someone explain it to me?

Regular Investing feature with II
I wondered if someone could clarify this for me. The regular investing plan with II at £1.50 a pop covers "UK share deals" only as well as funds etc. Now does that mean that only funds sold directly in the UK (e.g. with an ISIN number starting with GB) can be purchased under the regular scheme? There are a few ETFs I like…

Invest in HL, don't invest with HL
I came across a nice quote from Nick Train: So that means, of the 0.45% you pay HL in fees, two thirds of it is pure profit. Time to buy some HL shares? With iWeb, of course.

Fundsmith Equity - Opinions
I have been doing some research into funds and see what various brokers recommend. I have looked at several rating websites and something has struck me: aside from maybe The Telegraph, I haven't seen anyone recommend the Fundsmith Equity fund. The comments I have seen were usually that there are better funds. Yet go look a…

Short Term Home for Cash
Where would you put £10k in the short term (1 year)? Mortgage has an early repayment penalty of 4% so not an option to overpay beyond the 10% threshold. ISA is an option but interest rates seem so low and stock values so high it seems an unwise place in the short term. Any suggestions would be most welcome.
