Good morning, I was made redundant recently, and had been participating in a SAYE scheme for the past three years. A letter from the SAYE administrator has come through the door containing amongst other things, a direct debit form so that I can continue to save money in to the SAYE scheme. There doesn't seem to be anything…

what are you saving for?
Hi all Hubby and I want to save more. Savings rates seem very low, but we are hoping to be disciplined enough to put money aside each month. There are loads of topics about being debt free or mortgage free, but what else are you all saving for. Do you have particular goals, is it is just the point to save as much as you…

Transferring money between spouses
Hi, I have a question regarding transfers between spouses. My wife has a bank account in Spain (in her sole name) from which we wish to transfer some funds to my bank account in the UK (in my sole name). As I understand, inter-spousal transfers in the UK are not subject to any kind of tax (correct me if this is not…

Santander shares dividends
Anyone tried to claim back their Spanish tax. I am a pensioner and not a tax payer and so should not be paying the Spanish tax.:o It seems to be a bit hit and miss and there must be plenty of pensioners in the same boat. With interest rates at an all time low we need to recoup our own money!!

Hi there, Need some help and advice if at all possible please? Are these suitable funds for a JISA?
Hi, Been asking questions around JISA's for the last couple of months, with a view to investing in a fund (or collection of funds) for my 5 month old boy. I was originally looking at the Vanguard Lifestrategy 60% Acc. fund. But having signed up with HL and placed some money on account ready to invest, I am now looking…

HL introduce ETF regular savings
Just received an email that HL have introduced regular savings into ETFs! Something I have been hoping for a while. Previously they only allowed regular savings into funds and FTSE 350 stocks and selected investment trusts. Dealing commission is the same fixed rate of £1.50 per trade. Just a shame that they have only…

USD Cash account in UK
I have $10,000 USD in cash held in a safety deposit box. I will want to access this cash in the future and don't want to convert to it sterling at this time (even with good exchange rate). Re-organising ETF investments to maximise tax allowances
I have an S&S ISA containing individual shares and ETFs (ISF and IUKD) In response to falling interest rates I have also recently bought bond ETFs outside the ISA (EEXF, ISFX and INXG) As I understand it, share-based ETFs qualify for the new £5000 dividend allowance but bond-based ETFs do not. Is this correct? If so, it…

Hooray for savings rates cuts
I figure you wouldn't need to hold many shares in a bank to benefit more than you lose from any cuts they make to current account rewards and savings interest Question is how much would you need invested? How much would the banks dividends improve for these rate cuts? Some of you probably would be net beneficiaries ;)
