Closing a no withdrawal savings account.
I recently deposited a sum of money in a 2 year fixed savings account with no withdrawals! I now need the funds from the account. I spoke to the bank in question and they say it is unlikely that I can withdraw my funds early, however I should write to them to explain the reason why I require the funds and they will look at…

X-O opinions please : looking for CSD alternatives.
Canvassing opinion on X-O. I know some here use them and I'm interested in problems, if any, that folks might have encountered. Mostly relating to delayed dividend payments and other account transaction difficulties, but anything at all will be a great help. I'm planning some major changes since CSD announced their fee…

Bank Loan into Funding Circle?
I can currently borrow £10,000 from my bank at 3.3% (I've got good credit so I'd get this rate) and the estimated rate of return after bad debts at Funding Circle is around 7.5% I could borrow from the bank, then put all that cash into P2P lending, and make £400 a year for doing not a lot. Why would this not be a good…

Investing is more ethical than giving to charity
While giving to charity is undoubtedly helpful, it doesn't benefit from reinvestment like share/fund investing does, as price rises and reinvestment of dividends in the secondary market makes ever more funding available for companies should they issue new shares, whilst also the secondary market is important for…

Hi money gurus, I'm British but have been living outside the EU for over 8 years and have a young son (nearly 3 years old), he's also a British citizen. I'd like to open a savings and/or investment account in the UK (next time I visit) so that myself and close relatives can contribute to his savings as he grows up. The aim…

Bank account DD query
A lot of bank accounts seem to require 2 direct debits in order to qualify for various offers. Does anyone know if two payments to the same company would count? e.g. I have two DDs going out each month to ebay for two different accounts. I've had a look at the bank T&Cs but none seem to address this that I can see. Has…

CSD charges
CSD look like the latest to adjust platform charges. Time to get the calculator out... again. £10 to £11.50 for share dealing is the one that'll hurt me most. The requirement to trade once a month rather than 6 times every 6 months to qualify for the platform fee waiver also makes things a lot trickier for rebalance timing.

Hi all, Does anyone know of a site which - in simple terms - explains what events are coming up which could have an impact on the markets? (specifically FTSE).
