buying in a falling market
I have read a few posts about people buying more stocks as the markets are falling to bag a bargain. Are these people: 1) selling on day 1 and buying on day x, where x is greater than 1? 2) not selling at all. Just buying. 3) both. Some doing 1 and some doing two

How long does it take a provider to swap funds? For example, if I wanted to move from fund a to fund b online, then how long does it take a company like friends life or Aviva to do this? Is it usually at 12pm the following day?

Late father's shares in dissolved company
My father died last year and I have been trying (unsuccessfully) to get information about some shares that he held. He was a director of company and held a large amount of shares. According to their annual accounts, he was listed as a shareholder whilst a director in 1990. He resigned in 1991 but did not sell his shares.…

Savings Rate
I have seen various references to a nominal "savings rate" on here and on other sites. By this I am referring to comments such as "I save 50% of my salary" or similar. I started to wonder what ours was but wasn't sure how to avoid adding apples to pears. So my question is how do I bring everything back to a level playing…

Did I buy too high?
Hi all, Bought a European fund a few weeks ago which was doing quite well until the crash last week. Is it wise to just keep my holding through this correction (my investment aim is long term) rather than get out now?

Why isn't anyone panicing?
After the markets are heading down the south like sherman I'm surprised I'm not seeing more concern on the forums. I was just on the verge of dumping £10,000 into a fund last week and then the market just crashed. It's made me think twice about investing but then again I'm kind of thinking let it drop a bit more and then…

Which FTSE 100 tracker
With the FTSE having fallen substantially over the last wee while, I am contemplating putting approx. £10k in to a FTSE 100 tracker as part of a wider portfolio. I have looked online, but can't see any stand out winners at the minute, does anyone have one they would recommend? Thanks

Lost Allowance on Fixed Rate ISA
I opened a Virgin Fixed Rate ISA with an initial deposit of £500 and also transfered in a previous ISA. Now find I cannot top-up and use my remaining allowance as the is a 30 day limit. I am not "panicking" here. I have just…

Should I Buy to Let or Just Keep Saving/Investing?
I'm currently in two minds about a savings and investment issue and thought I'd turn to this knowledgeable community for some input. :) I'm currently living with my parents, and I'm absolutely fine with that; I have my own space, can come and go as I please and don't have to pay a penny towards the running of the house - I…

About seeking financial advice
I'm a novice. Is it true that a) if asking for advice on what to do with your savings from your bank, the staff will give you advice based on what is best for the bank, not you, and b) it is pointless asking anyone what shares to buy as they are not going to give away their secrets?
